She is also the first civilian to fly in space because she was laterally given an honorary position in Soviet Air Force. She was in space for 2 days, 23hrs, and 12mins.

    Explanation: Sally Kristen Ride is known for being first the first American woman in space. Basically she belonged to Los Angeles. After joining NASA, at the age of 32 she set this record. So till now she is also the youngest American astronaut to travel to space.
